Respiratory Unit - Respiratory Therapist

Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• Experience with Epic is required.

• Trauma Level 2 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a license (required for submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >75 miles from facility to be submitted.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Aya Program - BJC Health System and no current placement allowed at Program: Aya Program - BJC Health System.

Additional Details:

RNs only - Clinicians who obtained RN degree outside of the U.S. and do not hold MO/IL/Compact license require extended licensing and compliance timeframe.

No medical marijuana cards accepted.

You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.

Required Skills/Experience: - Experience in facilities with at least 300 beds required. - Airway management devices/suctioning: Endrotracheal tube/suctioning, Extubation, Nasal airway suctioning, Oral airway placement, Oropharyngeal/suctioning, Sputum specimen collection, Tracheostomy/suctioning. - Medication administration: Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, Inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (INo), Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Xopenex. - Medication delivery systems: Aerosol set up mask, Aerosol set up trach, Metered dose inhaler. - Nebulizer: Hand held, T-piece, Trach collar, Ultrasonic. - Oxygen therapy: High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC). - Ventilator management: BiPAP, CPAP, Troubleshooting high pressure alarms, Weaning from mechanical ventilation. - ABG interpretation required. - Must be comfortable managing mechanically ventilated patients.

Preferred Skills/Experience: - Teaching hospital experience is preferred.

Preferred Credentials: - Active AARC membership preferred. - Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field of study preferred; candidates actively working toward a bachelor’s degree are also accepted.

Special Requests: - No local candidates accepted within 75 miles.

Unit Details: - Adult and geriatric patient population. - Teaching hospital; may occasionally precept respiratory therapy students.

Shift & Scheduling: - BJC policy: Every other weekend required. - Every third-weekend rotation. - Must be willing to work some holidays. - RTO: No more than 7 days.

Floating Requirements: - Expected to work in ICUs and floors.
