As an RN Case Manager at MSK, you'll use your clinical judgment and nursing experience in a new way, helping patients and families navigate complex cancer care.Case management is much more than paperwork. You'll assess patient needs, solve problems, advocate for patients, and work closely with nurses, physicians, social workers, insurance providers, and other partners. While case management experience is preferred, experienced hospital nurses with strong transferable skills are encouraged to apply.Role Overview:Provide case management for a group of oncology patients Begin assessing discharge-planning needs when a patient is admitted Review each patient's progress and identify the services needed for a safe and timely transition to the next level of care Coordinate home care, equipment, services, and follow-up care Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity throughout treatment and follow-up Communicate with physicians and clinical nursing staff about ongoing patient care Connect with insurance carriers and MSK billing teams to obtain treatment authorizations and support appeals Follow select patients in the outpatient setting Key Qualifications:Current New York State Registered Nurse license and registration required BSN required At least two to three years of clinical hospital nursing experience Case management, utilization review, or managed-care experience strongly preferred-but not required Knowledge of state and federal health-insurance regulations preferred Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Core Skills:Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Ability to advocate for patients and families Strong decision-making and negotiation skills Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams Organization and attention to detail Additional Information:Schedule: Five eight-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with on-call responsibilities and rotating weekend coverage Location: 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY Helpful LinksMSK Compensation PhilosophyReview Our Greats Benefits OfferingsAt MSK, you'll join a Magnet-recognized organization and work alongside nationally recognized oncology experts.
