What You'll Do

• Operate SUE field equipment to locate underground utilities: telecom, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems
• Thoroughly search designated areas, accurately mark utility locations, document findings, and photograph each locate
• Create electronic field sketches and apply basic field measurements and math
• Work independently and follow instructions with precision — accuracy and thoroughness are what set great locators apart
• Review jobsite safety daily and take immediate action on any issues
• Communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and your team
• Cross-train as needed to build a stronger crew

What the Job Is Like

• Field-based, on the road — not a remote or desk position
• A lot of walking, for long periods, across all kinds of terrain — including uneven ground and water
• Regular out-of-town travel (about 25%)
• Physical, outdoor, hands-on work — no two days look the same

What We're Looking For

• SUE field operations experience preferred; will train the right person
• Process-oriented, steady, detail-obsessed, and honest — someone who hates mistakes and likes structure
• Comfortable working alone when needed, but a strong team communicator
• Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle and criminal record
• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree a plus
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening; background and MVR checks may apply
