Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse Emergency Room PRN coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

What you will do in this role:

• You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for assigned patient.
• You will meet the Standards of Practice for the Emergency Department (ED) and manage all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment.
• You will participate in activities to plan, measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care.
• You will routinely provide triage assessment for patients presenting for treatment.
• You will routinely perform venipunctures for obtaining specimens for lab tests.
• You will routinely provide intervention in emergency, life-threatening situations.
• You will assume the responsibility of charging the department, as needed.

What qualifications you will need:

• Current Texas Licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BLCLS) and Certification.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification within 6 months of hire.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course (PALS) and Certification within 6 months of hire.
• One year experience in Emergency Services (ED) (ER) (FSED).

Corpus Christi Medical Center is a 630+ bed healthcare system of hospitals in Corpus Christi and the surrounding Coastal Bend community. Bay Area is our full-service acute care hospital and offers state-of-the-art cardiovascular services, bariatric, GYN and robotic surgery. The Women's Center at Bay Area , with its NICU Unit, is also the home of our graduate medical education program. Northshore Emergency Center is a full-service 24-7 emergency department in Portland that offers outpatient laboratory, imaging and occupational services. Radiation Oncology offers advanced technology for treating cancer with the latest and most specific radiation therapies available.
