Transport Engineer

Transport Engineer – Richardson, Texas (IP/Routing Focused) About the Role: We are looking for a Transport Engineer to join the Systems and Maintenance Engineering SME Intelligent Edge Network Lab Governance Team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and executing support strategies for SME Lab resources while ensuring the efficient operation of test bed environments. Key Responsibilities: Implement lab test bed setups based on requirements from IT Planning and Maintenance Engineering teams. Ensure test bed setups are complete and ready before testing or development efforts begin. Schedule and manage the availability of lab resources. Provide support and troubleshooting for test bed issues , including vendor engagement and escalation. Maintain lab resources to ensure production-like availability. Manage test bed inventories and track equipment usage. Perform hands-on equipment support, including installation, fiber maintenance, and hardware upgrades. We need a candidate with strong expertise in Layer 1-3 networking and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams to support next-generation network development. Required Qualifications: 5-7 years of experience in IP routing, preferably with Cisco, Ciena, and Nokia. Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving network issues across Layer 1-3 platforms. Solid knowledge of Telecommunications/Service Provider architecture and design. Experience with systems automation . Strong collaboration, written, and verbal communication skills. Experience with best practices for equipment installation , activation, turn-up , and network integration. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with lab operational procedures and practices. Familiarity with lab test tools (e.g., Ixia, Spirent). Juniper/Cisco routing or networking certification (or equivalent experience with Junos and IOS-XR).
