With the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, USA Triathlon and the USA Triathlon Foundation are entering an extraordinary period of opportunity and visibility for the sport. The Foundation launched the Elevate28 Campaign in 2026, a $28 million fundraising initiative built to elevate the future of triathlon in the United States and strengthen the pipeline of development and elite athletes, programs, and resources leading into and beyond LA28.The Development Coordinator is an integral member of the USA Triathlon Foundation team, supporting the day-to-day operations, fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and events that advance the Foundation's mission. Working closely with the Chief Development Officer and Senior Manager, Foundation Operations & Donor Engagement, this role provides broad support across nonprofit development, including donor stewardship, gift processing, Salesforce administration, fundraising campaigns, event execution, Foundation Ambassador engagement, Board of Trustees logistics, and donor communications.The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, collaborative, and energized by working in a fast-paced environment. They bring strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for sport and the impact that philanthropy can have on athletes and communities. This position is based at USA Triathlon headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with occasional travel and weekend work required during peak event periods.Essential Job FunctionsDonor Database & Gift AdministrationDonor Stewardship & EngagementFundraising SupportPrograms, Events & Community EngagementFoundation Operations & AdministrationMarketing & CommunicationsFirst-Year Success MeasuresDevelop strong proficiency in Salesforce, including gift entry, reporting, donor segmentation, data management, and basic database administration.Independently manage the Foundation's donor acknowledgment process, ensuring gifts receive timely, accurate, and personalized recognition.Successfully coordinate logistics for at least one Foundation event or program from planning through execution, in partnership with the Senior Manager, Foundation Operations & Donor Engagement.Provide meaningful support for the successful execution of an annual giving campaign in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Annual Leadership Giving.Establish strong working relationships with Foundation Ambassadors, athletes, donors, volunteers, and internal partners.Demonstrate the ability to independently draft high-quality donor communications, including thank-you letters, emails, impact updates, and stewardship materials.Contribute to quarterly reporting on donor engagement, fundraising activity, campaign performance, and stewardship efforts.Develop a strong understanding of nonprofit fundraising principles, donor stewardship, and Foundation operations.Identify and propose at least one new or improved approach to donor engagement, fundraising, communications, or event experiences.Demonstrate increasing ownership of projects and the ability to manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.RequirementsQualificationsAt least one year of relevant professional experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, events, marketing, communications, or a related field.Demonstrated interest in the Olympic and Paralympic movement and a passion for sport, preferably triathlon or swimming, cycling, or running.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends, particularly during peak event season.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.PreferredBachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, sports management, or a related field.Professional experience in nonprofit fundraising or development.Experience in endurance sports, Olympic/Paralympic sport, or the broader sports industry.Experience with donor engagement, online fundraising, or peer-to-peer fundraising platforms.Experience with Salesforce or another nonprofit CRM.Comfort with public speaking, group facilitation, or presenting to small groups.Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design and content-creation platforms.Familiarity with nonprofit financial processes, expense tracking, or budget management.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExceptional attention to detail and strong organizational and time-management skills.Proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to take ownership of projects and follow through.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with donors, athletes, volunteers, colleagues, and external partners.Excellent written communication skills and the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.Ability to handle sensitive donor information with professionalism and discretion.Collaborative team member who enjoys working across departments and functions.Creative problem-solver who brings ideas and solutions to donor engagement, fundraising, events, and communications.Strong customer-service mindset with a genuine desire to serve athletes, donors, volunteers, and the triathlon community.Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek direction or collaborate with others.Comfort working in a dynamic environment where priorities may shift based on organizational and event needs.Passion for the mission of the USA Triathlon Foundation and the role philanthropy plays in expanding opportunities for athletes and strengthening the triathlon community.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsThis position is on-site at USAT headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO.While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
