Role Description The Junior Accountant is an entry level position that will support the more senior Accountants while providing important services within the office; and assisting in managing the day-to-day financial operations to keep the organization financially stable. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, processing cash receipts and accounts receivable, issuance of policy cancellations and reinstatements. They will assist with accounts payable, preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers and account and bank reconciliations. The Junior Accountant resolves issues before they become larger problems.Hourly rate: $21 - $24. Qualifications Must reside in the Buffalo NY area and be able to commute to the office at least three (3) days each week. Foundational accounting skills, including knowledge of debits/credits, general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations. Proficiency with MS Office applications (especially Excel for spreadsheets, formulas, and basic data analysis). Strong attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to maintain organized financial records. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with colleagues across the various departments. Ability to manage time, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience). Professional integrity, discretion with confidential information, and commitment to continuous learning and development. Primary Job Responsibilities Process the cash receipts related to our Accounts Receivable. Mediums of payment include checks, ACHs, wire transfers and ePay payments. Review and follow up with independent insurance agencies for outstanding (past due) accounts receivable balances. Issue Notice of Cancellation (NOC) on accounts for which AR balances cannot be collected. Issue Notice of Reinstatement on accounts for which collections were made after the cancellation occurred. This is to be done within assigned authority parameters. Anything outside these parameters should be referred to the more senior accountant. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Process company payables Prepare general ledger journal entries Assist with Monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements Prepare analysis of accounts, as requested Assist with year-end close Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts Account/bank reconciliations Review and process expense reports Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures Complete other office tasks, as needed. #J-18808-Ljbffr
