THIS POSITION The SCA is currently recruiting multiple Event Assistants to join our Hospitality Team for the 2026 season. Our ideal candidates are passionate about the SCA’s mission and programs and are excited to be part of a collaborative, community-focused team. Each Event Assistant plays an important customer service role in creating a welcoming and positive environment for guests, performers, volunteers, and fellow team members. This position is a vital part of our Hospitality Team and is best suited for individuals who are motivated, demonstrate strong customer service skills, work with a sense of urgency, and maintain a positive attitude toward growth, teamwork, and community engagement. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING The Event Assistant’s focus is to create a welcoming environment for our guests, performers, instructors, volunteers, and other team members. This happens via: Opening/Closing/Securing the facility before and after each event Working with the Hospitality and Rental Director to execute rental events including weddings, receptions, and special events year-round (heavy emphasis May – October). Assist at performances and special events as needed Wash on-site laundry as needed Maintain facility cleanliness before, during, and after eventsOrganize kitchen, recyclables, returnables, and garbage Lift materials of up to 30 pounds on occasion Comfortable on your feet for multiple hours Work with the public (guests), performers, vendors, volunteers, and other SCA staff WHAT SKILLS YOU’LL NEED TO SHINE IN THIS JOB Must possess exemplary interpersonal skills, and be able to interact with others in a professional manner Strong organizational skills Ability to work well with others and be a team player Ability to follow written and verbal direction Must be 18 or older to apply DESIRED SKILLS FOR THIS JOB Prior event/hospitality experience preferred Comfortable serving at the bar when needed Comfortable working as a team and independently Money handling and retail experience a plus but not required Prior experience working with public required REPORTS TO Hospitality and Rental Director COMMITMENT This is a part time position.
