PT Eve: Monday-Thursday 4 pm-9 pmPosition SummaryThe Dental Assistant provides direct support to the Dentist in delivering high-quality dental care to inmate patients within the correctional facility. This role ensures efficient, safe, and compliant dental operations in accordance with CFG clinical guidelines, community standards of care, and contractual obligations.Education and CertificationHigh School Diploma requiredCompletion of an accredited dental program from a community college, vocational school, technical institute, university, or dental schoolCertified Dental Assistant (CDA) credentialCurrent state X-Ray licenseActive Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationExperiencePrevious clinical experience in a dental office preferredRequired Skills & CompetenciesKnowledge of dental instruments, equipment, and materialsProficiency in dental office procedures and recordkeepingPrinciples of sterilization, infection control, and dental hygieneKnowledge of tooth anatomy and surfacesStrong interpersonal and communication skillsBasic computer skillsReliable, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environmentKey ResponsibilitiesClinical SupportAssist the Dentist during procedures, including preparing instruments, materials, suction, and retractionPerform sterilization of instruments and disinfect operatories between patientsAssist with diagnostic X-rays and preparation of dental materials (cement, composite, impression materials, etc.)Maintain accurate patient dental charts and record findingsProvide patient education on oral hygiene and preventative careOperational SupportMaintain dental operator and equipment in proper working orderInventory and order supplies to ensure adequate stock levelsEnsure adherence to infection control policies, universal precautions, and OSHA guidelinesMaintain dental office security, including instruments, medication, and needle counts according to regulationsOrganizational ExpectationsRepresent CFG Health Systems professionally and positivelyProtect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and PREA regulationsDemonstrate maturity, flexibility, and sound judgment in interactions with patients and staffParticipate in ongoing training, quality improvement initiatives, and staff meetingsFollow facility safety protocols and maintain necessary security clearancesOther DutiesUtilize downtime to clean, organize, and stock operatoriesPerform other position-related duties as assignedOrganizational ExpectationsProvides a positive and professional representation of CFG Health Systems, LLC.Promotes a culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and preventionMaintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practiceAdheres to infection control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulationsParticipate in ongoing quality improvement activitiesCompletes required orientation as directed by the facilityFollows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignmentFollows facility and CFG Health Systems Occurrence ProtocolUpholds HIPAA and PREA regulationsPunctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shiftsMaintains security clearance for the assigned facilityPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
