Research Nurse Specialist

Title: Research Nurse Specialist Location: Upper East Side Org Unit: Nursing Work Days: Monday-Friday Weekly Hours: 35.00 Exemption Status: Exempt Salary Range: $108,972.00 - $125,388.00 *As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when Hired for NYC Offices Position Summary The Research Nurse Specialist performs a variety of technical and administrative duties concerning specific clinical research studies. Job Responsibilities Ensures optimal quality of medical care for patients participating in the study; uses ethical conduct as established for healthcare personnel; assists in formation of educational aides and manuals as reference framework for patients and staff as necessary. Participates in continuing education programs. Educates nursing staff to drug protocols. Assists with updating policies/procedures. Keeps abreast of new methods of treatment including the various venous access devices in the field. Arranges follow‑up visits with patient to assess quality of care and applies appropriate physical and psychological assessment to determine any effect of study drug. Implements appropriate intervention in the event of adverse patient response. Assesses patient eligibility for inclusion in investigational studies. Reviews patient history and abstracts and records information; records pre‑study lab data; secures baseline laboratory blood work from patient and arranges necessary scans. Reviews "informed consent" with patient; coordinates and educates patient and medical personnel as to required follow‑up tests to be performed; assists physician in preparing IRB documents and maintains correspondence with sponsoring company/agency and IRB. Assures adherence to study requirements according to protocol; monitors study drug according to protocol; monitors and/or performs pharmacokinetic studies as detailed in protocol and attends to laboratory procedures to process, store and ship specimens. Education Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Experience Approximately 2 years of related work experience in a clinical setting. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong verbal, written communications, and interpersonal skills. Licenses and Certifications Current NY State Registered Nurse License & Registration. BLS certification, issued by the American Heart Association.
