Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team in a climate-controlled warehouse environment. This role is responsible for setting up and operating all CNC lathes and CNC mills, as well as designing fixtures or work-holding jigs to produce high-quality products to precise print specifications.
Job Description
- Operate CNC controlled metal-cutting and related processing machines and equipment—including turning lathes, vertical/horizontal mills, and saws—for a wide variety of materials.
- Plan and perform setups, first article layouts, and execution of work according to product specifications, blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
- Inspect all materials and components to ensure they meet accepted quality standards. Complete required inspection documentation, marking of heat numbers and hold tags. Perform first-piece quality audits and roving audits as required.
- Ensure accurate movement of inventory through assigned areas (transactions, production reporting, resolution of negatives, etc.). Employ ERP systems (such as Oracle) to navigate and execute tasks to complete work orders, WIP transactions, material workbench, supply demand, and material requirements.
- Participate in Lean events and active Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives. Ensure safe operation of tools and machinery, complete daily maintenance check sheets, and immediately report unsafe acts, conditions, or quality concerns to supervision, engineering, management, EHS, or Quality representatives.
- Assist in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of less experienced machinists. Document training provided, complete and report Problem Reports (PRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
- Operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other motorized equipment as required for tasks.
Skills Required
- At least 5 years of related CNC experience.
- At least 2 years of manual machinist experience.
- Prior experience working within ERP systems.
- Ability to operate and set up most machining equipment independently.
- Ability to understand, read, and edit M-Code and G-Code programming.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices (height gauges, calipers, micrometers, and thread gauges).
- Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
- Mathematical aptitude: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide across all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Professional English communication skills (read, speak, and write) to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to effectively use email to communicate potential risks regarding safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and cross-departmental interface skills to meet business goals.
- Familiarity with personal computers, workstations, and applicable middleware software applications.
- Ability to use Windchill (Product Data Management application) and Quality Management Software.
- Knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement principles.
- Ability to work with limited supervisory guidance, run standard work, and meet TAKT time and quality standards.
- Demonstrated capability in training others.
Preferred qualifications:
- Proficiency in Oracle ERP and middleware applications.
- CNC Machining trade school certificate.
- Forklift certification.
Education
- Required: High school diploma or GED
Additional requirements
- Schedule notes: Monday through Friday, shift starts at 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, some daily overtime and weekend work will be required
Pay rate
- $25 - $28 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
