R&D Engineer I, Mechanical

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Mechanical R&D Engineer I to develop single-use bioprocessing products from concept through commercialization. This role involves hands-on mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and cross-functional collaboration in Logan, Utah on-site.
Responsibilities
- Own mechanical and disposables designs from concept through production commercialization
- Design hardware, components, and flexible systems for single-use bioprocessing applications
- Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings per specifications
- Build prototypes and support verification and validation testing activities
- Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, quality, and systems engineering teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- 0-1+ years of product development or mechanical engineering experience
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical design fundamentals
- Experience with engineering calculations and structured problem-solving
- Understanding of machining, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication processes
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
