About the Position

The unit has 30 beds with a patient ratio of 1:6. There are 2-3 techs available per shift along with a clinical coordinator, charge nurse, manager, and director. The type of equipment used includes wound vacs, heparin gtt, suction, IV pumps, glucometers, bladder scanners, feeding pumps, and telemetry. The documentation system in use is editech. Block scheduling is not guaranteed. Every other weekend and holiday rotation is required. Floating may occur between two different units. A positive attitude is essential in meeting the needs of patients and families. Service recovery measures should be performed as necessary. Issues should be escalated through the chain of command. Advanced skills needed include cardiac rhythm interpretation. Procedures performed on the unit include lab draws and IV starts. The required uniform is navy scrubs. Fleece or sweatshirts are not permitted. Awards and recognition include colleague-to-colleague recognition, the Daisy Award, and the Bee Award. This unit offers a family environment and visibility of leadership. Self-scheduling and a learning atmosphere are key features of this position.
