Job Details:


• Float pool position rotating across multiple MedSurg units throughout the facility
• Shift times: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM (days) or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (nights)
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Holiday expectations every other based on start date and department needs
• No on-call required; low census tracked at 36 hours cancellation per 13-week contract
• Schedule made in 6-week increments provided 1-2 weeks prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Patient ratios: Days 1:5, Nights 1:6
• Tele experience required with strong general MedSurg skillset
• Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, drain management (JP, hemovacs), wound vacs, NGT placement and management, central and PICC line management, central line blood draws, CBI, dressing changes, and wound care
• Will float to all MedSurg units, and may float to ICU/PCU to care for MedSurg/Tele level patients or act as a helping hand/sitter; will not take ICU or PCU patient assignments
• Units include MedSurg General Surgical, Cardiac Neuro, Oncology, Ortho, PCU, Admission Holding Unit, and ED Holding Extension and Surgical Overflow
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• EMR: EPIC preferred; IV Pump: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Scrub color: Any solid color, professional; no graphics, logos, or designs; protective footwear that is wipeable; no earbuds or AirPods
• Free parking available
• 1 shift of orientation - will meet with Nurse Educator and remainder of shift will be on the floor with a preceptor

This facility is a Level III Trauma Center and Level II NICU with Primary Stroke Center designation, operating 136 beds across multiple specialized units. The organization supports a team-oriented culture with strong collaboration between CNAs and RNs. Around-the-clock support is available including hospitalists, respiratory therapy, centralized telemetry monitoring, and phlebotomy services, ensuring comprehensive care for a diverse patient population.
