Role Description The Line Cook is a full-time, on-site role based at FoodHeads in Austin, TX. This role is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to recipes and standards, including prep work, cooking on the line during service, and plating dishes accurately and consistently. Day-to-day tasks include setting up and breaking down stations, labeling and storing ingredients, maintaining proper food handling and safety practices, and keeping work areas clean and organized. The Line Cook collaborates closely with other kitchen team members, communicates effectively during busy service, and helps manage inventory by reporting low stock or prep needs. This role may also assist with specials, basic menu development ideas, and supporting dishwashing or other back-of-house tasks as needed.
Qualifications

• Experience working as a line cook, prep cook, or in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with strong knife skills and familiarity with basic cooking techniques.
• Understanding of food safety, sanitation standards, and proper food storage, including temperature control and cross-contamination prevention.
• Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and plating standards with consistency and attention to detail.
• Strong time management and multitasking skills to handle multiple tickets and coordinate with the team during peak hours.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work a full-time schedule, including weekends and peak meal periods as required.
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with chefs, cooks, and front-of-house staff.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move items as needed in a commercial kitchen setting.
• Previous experience in a sandwich shop, café, or casual dining restaurant is a plus; formal culinary training is helpful but not required.
