School-Age-Care Counselor (Ravenna-Eckstein @ Wedgwood Elementary)

Position Overview Job Title: School-age Childcare Counselor (Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center at Wedgwood Elementary) Location: Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center at Wedgwood Elementary, Seattle, WA 98115 Position Type: Part Time – Year-round, part-time position starting ASAP. Salary Range: $22.00 – $25.30 per hour. ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, offers licensed childcare and recreational programs. As a School-age Childcare Counselor, you will teach children ages 5‑12 during the after‑school program, creating a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for learning, play, and growth. Schedule Part‑time, non‑exempt, up to 25 hr/week during the school year; may work summers as well. Monday‑Friday: 2:30pm–6:00pm (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri); 1:00pm–6:00pm (Wed). You may work some or all of these days; please let us know. Responsibilities Lead daily curriculum activities with a classroom of children ages 5‑12. Model appropriate behavior and provide opportunities for social and emotional growth. Ensure a staff‑to‑children ratio of 1:10 is maintained to ensure safety and accountability. Mentor and lead School‑age Childcare Counselors and report to the Associated Recreation Council School‑age Director. Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have High School Diploma, GED, college transcripts, or other secondary education. At least one year of experience working with children ages 5‑12 in a recreation or childcare setting is highly preferred. One year’s experience supporting and following curriculum activities with a large group of children is highly preferred. DCYF requirements to be completed after hire, including providing MMR vaccination record, TB skin test, MERIT portable background check, and WA state food worker's card.
