About Westville Correctional Facility: Westville Correctional Facility is a multi-level security facility located in Westville, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 3,400 incarcerated adult males. Originally built as a state hospital, the campus was converted to a correctional facility in 1979. The institution offers numerous programs focused on education, re-entry, and community service. Partnerships include Gold Standard Truss, which operates a truss manufacturing site on facility grounds, and the Moreau College Initiative through the University of Notre Dame and Holy Cross College. Incarcerated individuals can develop valuable vocational and academic skills. Staff maintain an environment that promotes safety, structure, and rehabilitation.

Role Overview: This role works closely with agency staff and other partners to complete assigned tasks while providing excellent customer service to both agency partners and the public. Strong judgment and clear communication are important, especially when interacting with residents or incarcerated individuals. This role requires the ability to lift/transport items up to 50 lbs with or without the assistance of equipment. Depending on the duties performed or environment setting, frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and/or similar movements may be involved.

A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: Authorize the accuracy of all orders received in the storeroom and authorize all goods received. Contact vendors regarding partial shipments and/or misorders. Maintain detailed inventory records and records of items ordered. Evaluate and recognize record-keeping or storage procedures as necessary. Ensure proper storage procedures and rotation of stock for perishable items. Make recommendations on purchase of new equipment for warehouse and maintenance required in building. Oversee and assembles equipment received in "knocked down" condition. May ensure the security of incarcerated individuals staff assigned to the warehouse.

What You'll Need for Success: Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following: Thorough knowledge of requisitioning and disbursing procedures, consumption rates of stored items and inventory control procedures. Thorough knowledge of stock items, their locations and the proper methods of storing a variety of goods and supplies based upon efficient space utilization and a variety of state and federal regulations. Effective communication skills. Practical knowledge of state regulations in handling and storing foodstuffs and perishables. Ability to train inmates and staff in proper operation of all equipment and proper methods of storage. Ability to maintain detailed, accurate inventory and purchasing records. Ability to operate forklift, hand-truck and other mechanical equipment in warehouse. A degree is not required. However, experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered. Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
