You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the Navy Fire and emergency Services of NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY CENTER CUTLER.

Duties

Help

• You will determine levels of staff, equipment, and other resources needed to provide departmental services and programs.
• You will identify performance, progress, disciplinary, and training needs of crew members.
• You will direct firefighters during structural, aircraft, and shipboard fire suppression and extinguishing.
• You will Instruct training for members of other fire departments.
• You will brief senior leaders or other employees on matters on firefighting actives, personnel, and equipment.
• You will prepare reports for the supervisor concerning fire runs, training, maintenance, inspections, or other topics.

• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Outside applicants claiming VEOA or VRA (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade, 2) Developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention, 3) Operating a variety of firefighter vehicles, apparatuses and equipment, and 4) Providing hazardous material incident response. NOTE: All experience must be demonstrated in your resume.

Applicants who are current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service employees: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; 2) Operating a variety of firefighter vehicles, apparatuses or equipment; 3) Initiating established medical protocols to perform basic life support and performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures. NOTE: All experience must be demonstrated in your resume.

This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I & II, Fire Officer I & II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, Driver Operator Pumper, National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians- EMT, HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, and Hazardous Materials Incident Commander. These certifications must have been awarded by National Registry, DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached a copy of your transcript or certifications, you will be rated ineligible .
