Patient Financial Counselor - Clarkson Tower

Job Overview We are looking for a dedicated Student Financial Services Coordinator to serve as a financial steward for patients and the organization. The role focuses on hospital clinics and designated outpatient areas, helping patients meet their financial obligations while ensuring accurate reimbursement. Shift First Shift (United States of America) – M-F 8:00am to 4:30pm. Requires 3 days in office and up to 2 days optional remote, depending on site. Responsibilities Screen accounts and take referrals; identify patient financial needs. Assist patients with insurance applications and financial assistance programs, including Medicaid, Marketplace, and disability. Verify insurance eligibility and benefit information; collect co‑payments. Generate cost estimates, set up payment arrangements, and follow pre‑payment guidelines. Provide expertise on routine third‑party reimbursement. Respond to insurance and patient inquiries verbally and in writing. Required Qualifications Minimum of 3 years’ experience in healthcare, insurance/third‑party reimbursement, or administrative customer service. High school education or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in business administration, healthcare, or a related field (or combination of education and experience, one year of education equals one year of experience). Knowledge of hospital and/or professional revenue cycle processes. Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with a diverse customer base. Strong multitasking, problem‑solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; typing speed of at least 45 words per minute with 95% accuracy. Preferred Qualifications Experience with both hospital and physician revenue cycle, billing, and Epic systems. Certification through a hospital or professional revenue cycle organization.
