Pay rate: $25.00/hr - $27.00/hr on W2 without benefits

Summary :
The Water Treatment Technician is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of water treatment systems supporting mine closure operations. This position ensures compliance with all applicable Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) regulations and company environmental standards. The technician will perform water quality testing, chemical handling, equipment inspections, recordkeeping, and routine maintenance activities while maintaining a safe work environment. The successful candidate must be capable of safely handling treatment chemicals, operating forklifts, conducting water sampling and testing, maintaining accurate records in Excel spreadsheets, and traveling daily to the Greystone Mine site located approximately one hour south of Battle Mountain, Nevada.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor water treatment systems and related equipment.
  • Safely handle, transfer, and apply treatment chemicals, including:
  • Caustic (Sodium Hydroxide)
  • Chlorine (Sodium Hypochlorite)
  • Collect water samples from designated locations and perform routine water quality testing and analysis.
  • Maintain accurate daily operational logs, chemical usage records, sampling results, and compliance documentation.
  • Enter and manage data efficiently in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all water treatment activities comply with Nevada Division of Environmental
  • Protection (NDEP) regulations, permits, and company environmental policies.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on water treatment equipment.
  • Monitor pumps, piping systems, valves, tanks, and treatment processes to ensure proper operation.
  • Assist with minor repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Operate forklifts safely for unloading, transporting, and storing treatment chemicals and supplies.
  • Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly while traveling to and from the mine site.
  • Report operational issues, equipment malfunctions, and permit exceedances immediately to supervision.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards in treatment facilities and chemical storage areas.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and emergency response activities as required.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, environmental requirements, and standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely drive a company vehicle daily to the Greystone Mine site approximately one hour south of Battle Mountain, Nevada.
  • Forklift operating experience or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience performing water sampling and basic laboratory testing preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to accurately record, track, and report operational data.
  • Knowledge of chemical handling and safety procedures.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of:
  • Pumps
  • Piping systems
  • Valves
  • Electrical systems
  • Chemical treatment processes
  • Ability to read gauges, meters, operating manuals, and technical procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in outdoor environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and precipitation.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), chemical-resistant clothing, gloves, eye protection, and safety footwear.
  • Ability to work around industrial equipment, treatment systems, and chemical storage areas safely.

Safety and Environmental Requirements
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Comply with all Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) requirements and permit conditions.
  • Maintain awareness of hazards associated with caustic, chlorine, and other treatment chemicals.
  • Participate in required environmental, safety, and emergency response training.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, workplace safety, and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Water treatment experience in mining, industrial, municipal, or environmental operations.
  • Experience with environmental compliance monitoring and reporting.
  • Experience operating pumps, chemical feed systems, and treatment equipment.
