Quality Inspector

Contract Industrial Tooling (C-I-T)

The Quality Inspector conducts in-process and final inspections of fabricated weldments and assemblies to ensure that customer specifications are met. This description represents the most significant job duties but does not exclude other work duties assigned or required but not mentioned. Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to appropriate department manager. Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurements tests; returning products for re-work; confirming rework is completed accurately Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing rework and waste; inputting data into quality database (Epicor) Keeps measurement equipment operating by following instructions Read blueprints and instructions to comprehend the quality expectations for the product and supplies Maintain records of testing, information and various metrics as required Determines disposition of periodic inspections and tags in accordance with procedures Prepare and submit reports to the Quality Manager as required ATTENDANCE: Good attendance includes reporting to work on time, sticking to work schedules, being prepared to start work on time, remaining on the job during the workday to complete assigned duties and limited use of unscheduled leave. The potential consequences for non-compliance may result in an increased rejection rate at the Customer, increased internal scrap rate, delayed or late shipments, personal injury, and a negative impact on the environment. All employees have the responsibility to contain and immediately notify management of any nonconforming product. This position requires no supervisory responsibilities. 1+ years of quality inspection or equivalent training Experience in welding manufacturing environment a plus Experience using a variety of inspection equipment and procedures, including tape measure, calipers, micrometers, etc. A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face shield, gloves, PPE, etc.) Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systtems. This job operates in a manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to loud noise, fumes and airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; may work with or around chemicals that create a hazardous exposure which is defined on the accessible Safety Data Sheets; employee is exposed to moderate temperature changes over an eight-hour shift. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, push, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
