Mobile Diesel Mechanic II - Day Shift $3,000 New Hire Bonus

Job Overview Position: Mobile Diesel Technician II – DOT Management Level, Individual Contributor (Flexible Work Option with remote component) Location: Must live in specified city, state or region (can work remotely, but travel required 100% of the time) Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 6:00AM – 2:30PM Compensation: Hourly base pay $26.73 – $40.10 per hour (range varies by location and qualifications) plus potential commission or incentive program. New hire bonus of $3,000 (50% after 30 days, 50% after 180 days). Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas & diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.). Diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment using testing instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, assess relevance of information, and generate alternative solutions using sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections. Communicate with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems. Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage time allocations effectively. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as needed. Document work according to company standards; upload pictures and parts used to Repair Orders (RO) via iOS device and TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT and other required documentation promptly. Work independently and manage own daily schedule; maintain productivity within standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors; communicate with management for repair estimates and approval. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Requirements High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years of related experience (alternative combinations acceptable). Supply a set of hand tools necessary for required duties. Ase T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire. Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical. Valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining; if less, a DOT physical is required. Must be 21 years or older; valid driver's license and ability to maintain Driver Qualification File. Safe driving record required. Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor. Excellent communication skills, succinct and organized. Effective two‑way communication with individuals and groups. Ability to determine needed tools and equipment. Accurate spatial judgment. Logical reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions.
