About the Organization The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Cayuga County New York, Inc. (E. John Gavras Center) was founded in 1953. It began as a small clinic in the Auburn Memorial Hospital and has grown into a treatment facility that provides educational, therapeutic, OPWDD, and respite care to individuals with special needs of all ages throughout Cayuga, Onondaga, Tompkins, and Wayne Counties. Job Description Job Title: Direct Support Professional – TBI Day Program Location: Canandaigua site (Happiness House) Salary: $17.75–$18.75 per hour Employment: Full Time, 12‑month contract, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am–4:00 pm Signing Bonus: $500 total, paid in two installments of $250: 50% after 6 months, 50% after 12 months. Summary / Objective: Ensure safety and supervision of all participants while fulfilling the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values and providing services that meet or exceed individual and departmental goals. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma One year of experience providing services to individuals with disabilities, preferably with traumatic brain injury. Knowledge of community resources and how to access them. Valid NYS driver’s license. Basic reasoning and writing skills. Maintain confidentiality of information in accordance with agency policy. Attend conferences, workshops, department meetings, in‑service, and online training as needed. Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and department guidelines. Manage electronic health records, agency email, virtual trainings, and employee records. Assist Program Specialists with program activities. Review individual plans, safeguards, PPOs, and related documents annually or as needed. Implement therapeutic and behavioral plans for participants. Develop instructional materials and support instructional projects. Maintain cleanliness and order of program equipment and areas. Lead small‑group activities at the agency and in the community. Drive agency vehicles for community activities; operate wheelchair lifts and ramps safely. Ensure a safe environment at the agency and in the community. Assist participants with ADL tasks such as safety monitoring, transfers, toileting, dressing, ambulation, and feeding as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor or Director. Supervise participants at the site and community locations. Supervisory Responsibility None. Physical Demands Regular talking or hearing; standing, walking; use of hands and arms; lifting or moving objects up to 10 lbs frequently, and up to 30 lbs occasionally. Travel Primarily local during the business day.
