Job Overview

Our organization is seeking a Part-time Behavioral Health Occupational Therapist to work 16 hours per week at our Montgomery Medical Center. This role is an excellent opportunity to become part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team.

The Occupational Therapist will assess and treat patients aged 13 and older who have been referred by physicians, providing care across various levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Duties: Assess and treat patients referred to you, utilizing appropriate evaluation tools. Communicate findings through written and verbal reports. Develop tailored treatment plans and objectives in collaboration with the AMHC Interdisciplinary Team. Educate patients to foster personal growth and responsibility. Organize group therapy sessions with colleagues and facilitate discussions at the end of each session. Document patient activities accurately and promptly in medical records. Ensure the maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Team Collaboration: Serve as a resource within the department and hospital by providing informal leadership and technical guidance. Mentor team members and assist in the onboarding of new staff, as well as supervise students and volunteers when necessary.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with current knowledge, certifications, and licensure. Identify personal learning needs and take initiative to address them. Participate in continuing education programs to maintain licensure and attend required hospital training sessions. Ensure compliance with mandatory training and complete all necessary certifications within the designated timeframe (e.g., CPR, PPD, competencies, age specifics).
  • Organizational Insight: Collaborate effectively across departments. Engage in inter-departmental teams and committees, sharing relevant knowledge with your unit. Maintain a positive and constructive demeanor in all interactions with staff, supervisors, and managers, both within and outside your unit.
Minimum QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
Experience
  • Preferred: New graduates with at least one year of experience.
  • Experience in mental health is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Occupational Therapist licensure in Maryland is required.
  • CPR certification (including BLS and NRP) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must be obtained within 90 days.
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on the department or specialty.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry tasks.
  • Familiarity with computerized clinical information systems, such as AMHC database, Clinicians View, and Chart View.
  • Understanding of HIPAA policies regarding confidentiality.

This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from USD $35.68 to USD $64.71.
