Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical unit. This role involves providing exceptional care to patients with various medical conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and be capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered care in the MedSurg unit, focusing on common diagnoses such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), hypertension, COPD exacerbations, and more.
• Monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and manage intravenous (IV) drips as required.
• Participate in team-based decisions regarding patient care plans and treatment pathways.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
• Float to other units as needed based on departmental requirements and staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association.
• Experience in managing patient care in a MedSurg setting, including familiarity with common titrable medications.
• Skills in reading ECG strips, as nurse will be responsible for monitoring cardiac rhythms.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Unit Specifics

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Nurse:Patient ratio: 1:4
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule.
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling options are available for staff.
• Orientation will be provided, with specific dates and locations communicated during the onboarding process.
• Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs required.

Additional Information

Employees may be required to float to other units as determined by nursing management, including within Zone 1 facilities. Coverage of various acuity levels from ICU to MedSurg may be necessary depending on patient needs.
