AI Project Manager

Job Description: Project Manager (AI) Location: Metro Park, NJ (Preferred) or Charlotte, NC Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite) Contract Duration: 12-month contract with potential extension and possible conversion based on performance and budget Position Summary We are seeking a highly organized and execution-focused Project Manager / Business Execution Consultant to support a fast-paced AI, Data & Analytics team focused on modernizing operational risk and communications surveillance processes. This role will partner closely with senior leadership and technology teams to help drive the execution of initiatives involving artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and business process transformation. This is not a traditional portfolio or program management role. The ideal candidate is a hands-on project manager who thrives in execution, proactively manages deliverables, tracks actions, identifies risks, and ensures projects stay on schedule. The individual will play a key role in coordinating stakeholders, maintaining project documentation, and supporting governance activities as AI-driven capabilities move from development into production. Key Responsibilities Track project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and timelines. Maintain project plans, action item logs, risk registers, and status reporting. Coordinate meetings, capture detailed meeting minutes, and ensure follow-up actions are completed. Drive accountability across stakeholders by monitoring commitments and escalating concerns when needed. Support project governance, documentation, and oversight activities. Assist with operational implementation of AI and analytics-driven business process changes. Monitor project execution and identify potential risks, issues, or gaps before they impact delivery. Partner with business leaders, technology teams, data scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment. Support testing, validation, and rollout activities for new capabilities. Provide organizational structure and execution support in a fast-moving, evolving environment. Apply critical thinking to evaluate potential operational risks and process impacts associated with business changes. Required Qualifications Demonstrated project management or business execution experience in a corporate environment. Experience managing project activities, deliverables, documentation, and stakeholder communications. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to proactively identify issues, follow up on open items, and drive tasks to completion. Experience capturing requirements, documenting decisions, and maintaining project artifacts. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Preferred Qualifications Exposure to AI, machine learning, NLP, data analytics, or related technology initiatives. Experience supporting operational risk, controls, governance, compliance, or regulatory-focused projects. Experience working alongside technology and data science teams. Understanding of business process transformation initiatives. Financial services or banking experience is beneficial but not required. Risks, issues, and dependencies are identified and managed proactively. Project documentation is accurate, organized, and maintained. Leadership receives timely visibility into project status and emerging concerns. AI and operational risk initiatives are supported through effective coordination and execution. Additional Notes This role supports an established initiative that has already progressed beyond the planning and ideation phases. Existing project plans, governance, and reporting structures are in place; the focus is on strengthening execution and maintaining momentum. The position works closely with senior leadership responsible for AI-driven operational risk transformation initiatives.
