CNC Machine OperatorThis role operates and adjusts CNC mills and lathes to perform standard and repetitive machining operations on a variety of metal parts. You will run proven programs and use established setups created by others while maintaining quality standards through precise measurement and inspection. The position involves basic computer data entry, safe material handling, and consistent adherence to production and safety procedures in a high-volume manufacturing environment.ResponsibilitiesOperate and adjust CNC mills and CNC lathes (including Haas equipment) to perform drilling, reaming, tapping, milling, turning, boring, and other machining operations across a wide range of surfaces, diameters, and depths.Run standard and repetitive machining sequences using programs and setups that are already proven and established by others.Monitor machine operation during production runs and make minor adjustments to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy.Inspect parts using micrometers, bore gauges, thread gauges, calipers, and other measuring tools to verify that products meet specified tolerances.Perform routine quality checks throughout the shift and document inspection results as required.Enter and read input and output numbers on a computer to track production, record measurements, and follow work instructions.Load and unload metal parts, lifting up to 5 pounds into and out of the machine in a safe and efficient manner.Follow standard work instructions, safety procedures, and housekeeping practices to maintain a clean and organized work area.Communicate any quality issues, equipment concerns, or material problems to the appropriate team members or supervisors.Support continuous improvement efforts by following established processes and providing feedback on potential enhancements to quality or efficiency.Essential SkillsAt least 1 year of machining experience in a manufacturing setting (such as brake press, laser, punch press, turret, CNC, or similar production machinery).Minimum of 1 year of experience using micrometers and calipers for quality inspection of parts.Hands-on experience operating CNC machines, including CNC mills and CNC lathes.Ability to operate basic manufacturing machinery and follow machine operation procedures.Proficiency using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and thread gauges.Ability to read and enter numerical data accurately into a computer system.Capability to lift and handle metal parts up to 5 pounds repeatedly during the shift.Attention to detail and ability to follow established programs, setups, and work instructions.Willingness and ability to work in a loud, dirty, high-production manufacturing environment.Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned shift hours.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Haas CNC machines is beneficial.At least 6 months of prior machine operating experience in a production environment is helpful.Familiarity with general quality inspection practices in manufacturing.Comfort working with computers for basic data entry and production reporting.Interest in cross-training in other departments and progressing into more advanced machining roles.Ability to collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, supportive work culture.Why Work Here?You will join a large, stable manufacturing operation that invests in training, growth, and recognition. The environment is loud and can be dirty, reflecting a busy metal fabrication and machining operation. Multiple shifts are available, including a first shift typically running from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., a second shift from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and a third shift from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The facility uses CNC mills, CNC lathes (including Haas machines), and various inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and thread gauges, along with computer systems for data entry and production tracking. Overtime is available, with opportunities to work up to 60 hours per week when approved in advance. The dress code requires steel-toe footwear, jeans, and a t-shirt without rips or holes, suitable for a manufacturing setting where safety and durability are important.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Janesville, WI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.50/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
