Project Delivery Leader

A-BIO is an owner's representative consulting firm focused on project management and technical services within the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry. Role Description A-BIO is hiring across three levels of project delivery leadership: Senior Project Manager, Project Director, and Program Director. As owner’s representatives, these roles meet a critical strategic need for our clients by establishing the right solution and project strategy and overseeing project execution through completion. By effectively executing our clients projects, we deliver their visions and enable their success. Responsibilities by Role Senior Project Manager Own assigned capital projects end to end — scope development, scope management, planning, execution, field oversight, and closeout Lead facility and utility planning for assigned projects, including capacity, condition, end of life, and redundancy assessment Translate technical findings into prioritized recommendations and business cases, quantifying business impact, cost, and risk of deferral Lead, mentor, and provide direction to the project managers and engineers assigned to your projects, including workload planning and resource allocation Coordinate construction execution with client teams, including utility outages, tie-ins, lockout/tagout (LOTO) activities, and site communication Manage multiple concurrent projects of varying size, complexity, and priority Project Director Own the capital portfolio for an assigned client site or account, including prioritization, sequencing, resource allocation, and input to multi-year capital plans Build, staff, and develop the project delivery team, including hiring input, performance management, and career development Establish project governance, delivery standards, and stage-gate processes, and hold project teams accountable to them Serve as the senior A-BIO relationship owner with client executive leadership; manage escalations and overall account health Support business development through scoping, resourcing models, proposal input, and statement of work development Own portfolio financial performance, including utilization, margin, and forecast accuracy Program Director Own an enterprise-scale program or a group of client portfolios, including program strategy, structure, and governance model Oversee development and maintenance of the integrated master schedule across constituent projects and portfolios; manage inter-project and inter-portfolio dependencies and critical paths Own the program budget and make trade‑off decisions across portfolios when scope, cost, or schedule pressure arises Chair executive steering committees and stage‑gate reviews; report program status, risk, and benefit realization to client and A-BIO executive leadership Lead project directors and senior project managers across the program, including capability development and succession planning Define and track program‑level benefits and outcomes through realization and handover to operations Shape A-BIO's project and program delivery model, standards, and practice capability, and support growth of the account and the firm Qualifications Senior Project Manager Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent; advanced degree or MBA beneficial 5+ years of project management experience delivering capital, facility, or utility projects, including senior‑level delivery responsibility Facility / utility or process engineering background in a GMP regulated environment. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage scope, control cost and schedule, and administer change management Experience leading, mentoring, or developing project managers or engineers Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects of varying size, complexity, and priority Ability to review and interpret technical information such as design documents, drawings, P&IDs, and engineering documents. On‑site presence required to support field walkdowns, outage coordination, and construction oversight Strong written and verbal communication skills Project Director Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent; advanced degree or MBA beneficial 10+ years of capital project delivery experience, including experience directing a portfolio of concurrent projects Demonstrated ability to prioritize projects within a portfolio and perform multi‑year capital planning Experience building, staffing, and developing a project delivery team Track record of representing an owner, consulting firm, or service provider to client leadership Commercial fluency — scoping, proposal and statement of work input, resourcing models, and account financial performance Experience establishing delivery standards, governance, and stage‑gate processes across multiple concurrent projects Strong executive‑level written and verbal communication skills Program Director Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent; advanced degree or MBA beneficial 15+ years of capital project, portfolio, and program management experience in a GMP regulated manufacturing environment, including program‑level ownership Demonstrated ownership of a portfolio, including dependency mapping, sequencing, and risk management Experience establishing and chairing program governance — executive steering committees, stage gates, and integrated master schedules Experience managing a program budget across a portfolio and making trade‑off decisions between competing projects Ability to define, track, and report program‑level benefits and outcomes, not only project deliverables Experience leading project management personnel, including capability development and succession planning Track record of representing an owner, consulting firm, or service provider to client executive leadership Strong executive‑level written and verbal communication skills. Beneficial Qualifications — All Roles Facility and utility engineering experience in the life sciences industry, specifically pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals Prior experience with clean and facility utility systems, including WFI, process gases, instrument air, HVAC, chilled water, steam, and electrical distribution Experience with facility master planning, process and utility capacity analysis, and long range infrastructure planning Experience developing or implementing drawing management and preventive maintenance programs Experience supporting sustainability, decarbonization, or energy reduction initiatives Exposure to gene therapy, cell therapy, mRNA, recombinant protein, or vaccine facilities PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project or program management certification Active engagement in life sciences industry organizations A-BIO, LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
