Family Living Director Department: Residential Supervisor: Program Director FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt Job Summary At Bello Machre, we call our House Managers Family Living Directors. The Family Living Director (FLD) provides oversight for one of our community‑based residential homes, caring for three to six adults with developmental disabilities. Hours may be weekdays and/or weekends, live‑in or live‑out, and scheduling is based on the needs of the home and its residents. FLDs work up to their specific weekly commitment and may not exceed the budgeted weekly hours without supervisor approval. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises all Direct Support Professionals assigned to their home in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving complaints. Basic Qualifications Must be at least 21 years old, nurturing and caring, with a genuine interest in supporting the independence of those we serve. Reasonable accommodations are available. A high school diploma or GED is required; a college degree is preferred. Experience Minimum two years in human services, including direct care, and at least one year of supervisory experience. Trainings, Licenses, and Certifications Valid Maryland driver’s license with no more than three points and no alcohol or drug related citations. Training may be provided upon hire. Physical Demands Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, and reach. Must lift at least 50 pounds and operate equipment such as mechanical lifts, electronic scales, shower equipment, and adjustable chairs or beds. Environment Work may occur in homes, offices, or community — travel by automobile and occasional overnight stays possible. OSHA Employees are expected to use universal precautions and may be exposed to blood and bodily fluids. Hepatitis‑B vaccination is offered free of charge at any time during employment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Report medical concerns and respond to emergencies promptly. Maintain accurate records, including medical, financial, and personal outcomes records, and complete injury and incident reports. Administer medication and physician orders, tracking trends. Maintain a well‑organized, family‑style home; cook balanced meals and uphold cleanliness. Support individuals in community participation, autonomy, and relationship building. Provide individualized care, including grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, and toileting. Maintain comfort, privacy, and dignity; report abuse or neglect incidents. Communicate positively with residents, visitors, family, peers, and supervisors. Attend mandatory meetings, organize house meetings, and coordinate care planning. Manage house schedule, hours, budget, and overtime. Supervise, support, and train house staff; review and approve timesheets. Use the time and attendance system to document work accurately. Ensure a safe environment, assist in medical/therapeutic services, and participate in safety training. Respond to phone calls and emails within 24 hours; meet deadlines. Maintain a clean work area and documentation; perform other duties as assigned. Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrates strong job understanding, planning, and prioritizing ability.
