Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED Minimum of 3–4 years of applicable welding experience ASNT NDT Level III Certification preferred Other relevant technical certification or qualification such as AWS Certified Welding Supervisor, AWS Certified Weld Inspector, or another preferred credential Skills and Proficiencies Read and interpret specifications and shipboard installation drawings, blueprints, and job orders Use a variety of ARC and gas welding equipment to fabricate or repair products such as foundations, cable collars, cable/pipe/vent hangers, cable tube penetrations, studs, etc. Weld in all positions and for all types of metals and alloys in various shapes to include pipes, structural forms, plates, sheet metal, bar stock, machinery and equipment Weld parts together using gas welding, brazing, and any combination of arc welding processes Perform thermal cutting and grinding Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and increase size of metal parts Supervisory and leadership skills Safety and Physical Requirements Occupation Safety Haz-Mat Certification Shipyard Competent Person Certification Aloft/Climbing Shipyard Stairs and Ladders Certification Working in Confined Spaces Certification Training and Ability to Safely Lift and Move Objects of 100 LBS Security and Work Locations Work primarily in San Diego, CA and Norfolk, VA; may travel to other shipyards in the United States and to other Navy ports outside the U.S. Work at government facilities Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for clearance Must pass a background investigation Must have a valid driver’s license; may require use of a company vehicle with an acceptable driving record according to policy Other Responsibilities Work overtime upon management request Maintain and safeguard company equipment and tools Maintain and safeguard welding inventory Organize and schedule welding jobs to on‑time completion Pay Range & Benefits Pay range: $28.80 – $43.20 per hour Competitive salary Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance Paid‑time off Tuition reimbursement 401(k) Retirement Plan Military Reserve pay offset Paid maternity leave Physical Requirements Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period Relocates a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis Possesses good vision (may be corrected), ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools Identifies when something is wrong or likely to go wrong Applies general rules to specific problems to produce sensible answers Combines pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions Sees details at close range (within a few feet) Listens to and understands information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences Travel Locations San Diego, CA Vallejo, CA Everett, WA Seattle, WA Portland, OR Groton, CT Mayport, FL Panama City, FL Charleston, SC Pearl Harbor, HI Earl, NJ Guam #J-18808-Ljbffr
