Because of our continuing growth and success, we are now looking to appoint a Principal Geotechnical Engineer.This will be a dynamic role, requiring collaboration with the other senior project engineers undertaking a wide variety of infrastructure projects including transportation, offshore wind and solar, stormwater and wastewater treatment plants, underground, roadway, and dams. The person in this role will use their technical knowledge to solve problems and evaluate risks while collaborating with other technical experts on a diverse portfolio of projects. They will also be expected to pursue new opportunities and work to develop and mentor younger staff. As a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, your duties will include: Developing and leading project teams to deliver projects on time and within budgetLeading and managing staff engineers and supporting their career and technical developmentWorking within broader Mott MacDonald organization to promote technical excellence. Providing technical and commercial input into project proposalsDeveloping relationships with other discipline leads and project managers to foster collaboration on multidisciplinary projectsWriting and reviewing reports, specification and contracts drawings for submission to clients (internal and external)Liaising with various clients, attending progress meetings and producing reports on progress.Providing expert engineering input into designsAssessment of subsurface conditions and development of design criteriaDeveloping engineering concepts, and articulation of the concepts to the teamIdentification, evaluation and communication of risks and potential risk mitigation options to clients and management. We’re looking for an individual to join our team to continue this and invite applications from candidates with: Bachelor’s degree in geotechnical engineering (Master’s preferred.)15+ years of related experiencePE License in one or more states including state of residency. NY/NJ preferred. Established track record in geotechnical design based on project experienceExperience working with government and local agencies, long linear projects (tunnels, pipelines, bridge/highways etc.) and energy projects (wind, solar, transmission etc.). Knowledge and experience in geotechnical design including shallow and deep foundations, settlement evaluation and mitigation, slope stability, and ground modification including experience with commercially available software (Lpile, Slope/W, RSPile, Settle3, Open Ground etc.).Experience developing geotechnical business and client relationshipsExperience in geotechnical risk determination and managementThis position is for any of our offices in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic.Benefits & RewardAt Mott MacDonald, our employees have a stake and a voice in our business, providing them with a direct connection to our success through our personal and group performance bonuses.
