Outside Property Claim Representative

Claim Compensation This role is eligible for a sign‑on bonus of up to $10,000. Salary Range $67,000.00 – $110,600.00 Location and Working Arrangement This position is 100% remote and requires service to insureds and agents in and around Washington, DC. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the assigned territory. What Will You Do? Handle first‑party property claims of moderate severity and complexity. Conduct field inspections, capture scope of damages, take photographs, and create written or computer‑assisted estimates. Investigate coverage, damages, and liability by reviewing leases, contracts, and pertinent documents. Evaluate business interruption, liability, and estimate actual cash value or replacement value using independent judgment and available data. Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves. Negotiate settlements with contractors or insured representatives within authority limits. Prepare denial letters, reservation of rights, and complex correspondence. Maintain quality standards, diary entries, and file inventory to ensure case resolution. Provide excellent customer service to insureds, agents, and internal/external partners. Refer claims to the Travelers Special Investigations Unit, Subrogation Unit, or Major Case Unit as appropriate. Perform administrative functions such as expense accounts and time‑off reporting. Support multi‑line claim handling for Auto, Workers Compensation, General Liability, and other business areas when needed. Mentor and coach less experienced claim professionals, when assigned. Attend legal proceedings (depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre‑trials, trials) as required. Participate in the Catastrophe Response Program, which may include deployment of up to 16 days (including two travel days) to assist customers in other states. Maintain a company credit card and acquire any necessary licenses or certifications (Insurance License(s) or UAS Remote Pilot Certification) within three months of starting the role. Calibrate ability to inspect all areas of a dwelling or structure, including physically demanding tasks such as climbing ladders, walking on roofs, and entering tight spaces. Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Bachelor's degree. General knowledge of Xactimate or comparable estimating systems. Two or more years of outside property claim handling experience. Advanced interpersonal and customer service skills. Advanced organizational and time‑management skills. Intermediate ability to work independently. Intermediate judgment, analytical and decision‑making skills. Intermediate negotiation skills. Intermediate written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Intermediate investigative skills. Intermediate ability to analyze coverage, evaluate damages, and resolve claims within settlement authority. Valid passport. Must Have Requirements High School Diploma or GED. One year of outside property claim handling experience or successful completion of Travelers Outside Claim Representative training program. Valid driver's license.
