Shiloh Empowerment Services is looking for compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person-centered support to adults with disabilities in community-based settings within Northern Virginia  Monday-Friday 9am-3:30pm . 

At Shiloh Empowerment Services, Direct Support Professionals (DSP) are the heart of what we do. As a DSP , you will support adults with developmental disabilities in building independence, confidence, and meaningful connections in their community. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, values dignity and choice, and wants a job that truly matters.

DSPs play an important role in helping individuals build independence, participate in meaningful activities, develop life skills, and engage with their communities while maintaining dignity, choice, and respect.

What You’ll Do

• Provide person-centered support with daily living skills (eating, hygiene, grooming, dressing) and person centered community coaching.
• Support individuals 1:1 in community activities and skill-building in community settings(e.g., libraries, parks, volunteer sites, workplaces, stores, and social environments) in alignment with each individual’s support plan (ISP) and general activities schedule.
• Transport individuals 1:1 in the community.
• Follow individualized support plans, behavior support plans, and crisis plans
• Build positive, respectful relationships with individuals served
• Empower individuals in achieving positive health and wellness goal outcomes.
• Support social skills building, communication, relationships, and independence
• Encourage employment readiness and community participation when applicable
• Maintain health and safety at all times, including line-of-sight supervision
• Complete accurate, real-time documentation and incident reports
• Communicate changes in behavior or health to supervisors
• Attend required trainings and team meetings

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED required
• At least 1 year of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities (paid or volunteer)
• Experience in residential or community-based settings preferred
• CPR & First Aid certification required
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Have a reliable, personal vehicle
• Valid state auto insurance
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Annual health clearance required
• COVID vaccination required
• Must pass background checks
• Must be able to complete all required DBHDS training modules

Work Expectations

• Business casual dress while on duty
• Closed-toe, hard-soled shoes required
• Cell phones must remain on silent while supporting individuals
• Full attention to individuals at all times
