• Hours: 36 hours per week (guaranteed)
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250 - $2,370
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Rotating, every other holiday
• Charting System: EPIC

Job Requirements (ICU Nurse / Critical Care RN)

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or proof of application in process
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience (Neuro ICU experience preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
• Experience with ventriculostomy, ventilator management, arterial and central line monitoring, and tPA administration
• Strong skills in acute stroke management, post-craniectomy care, and titration of multiple IV drips per physician orders
• Comfortable reading and interpreting cardiac monitor strips (Phillips monitors)
• Willingness to float to other units as needed; adaptable to varying acuity levels
• Must pass a comprehensive drug screen (drug-free campus)

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill neuro and stroke patients as a Neuro ICU nurse
• Monitor and manage complex neurological conditions, including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes and post-craniectomy patients
• Perform and manage advanced ICU procedures such as ventriculostomy care, ventilator management, central/arterial line care, and IV drip titration
• Interpret cardiac monitor strips and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes
• Document all assessments and interventions accurately in EPIC
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and ongoing professional development in neurocritical care
