Through clinical excellence and cutting-edge research, SCRI is redefining cancer care around the world.Medical Assistant ResponsibilitiesAs a Medical Assistant you will perform medical assistant related procedures for patients enrolled in clinical trials.Access, flush and de-access ports.Perform peripheral and port lab draws.Prepare patient for examination.Assist physicians with procedures as needed.Prepare and stock exam rooms.Obtain vital signs and EKGs from pharmacokinetics (PK) patients.Perform buccal swabs on pharmacokinetics (PK) patients as needed.Ensure proper maintenance/handling of EKG machines (clinic and sponsor EKGs).Verify the correct study lab kit is prepped for the pharmacokinetic (PK) patients with long days and new starts every morning prior to patient arriving.Respond to queries generated from study sponsor or contract lab regarding patient/sample data.Maintain laboratory equipment and workspace in all areas.Interface with P/SL and laboratory personnel regarding labs for research patients.Interface with the Clinic Research Nurses to ensure that all research patients have correct lab kits prior to patient visits.Order medical supplies as needed.Obtain radiology authorizations.Respond to emails daily.Utilize electronic medical record source for documentation.Assist other research personnel in the clinic when requested.QualificationsYou should have for this position:Knowledge of OSHA requirements for safe handling of blood and body fluids.Skill in venipuncture and blood processing.Skill in computer applications.Skill in gathering and reporting information.Medical Assistant training is preferred.Medical Clinic or Clinical laboratory and phlebotomy or equivalent experience.Current BLS certification.Compensation range $20/hr - $27/hrSarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI) is one of the world's leading oncology research organizations conducting community-based clinical trials.
