Business Intelligence Analyst

Business Intelligence Analyst – Technical Information Solutions Business Intelligence Analyst role within the Technical Information Solutions (TIS) team at Caterpillar’s Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD). The analyst brings insights on usage of service platforms and programs used by dealers and customers to support the repair and service of Caterpillar equipment globally. Responsibilities include visualizing data in PowerBI, analyzing Snowflake data, and developing automated reporting solutions. Responsibilities Work directly with business partners to understand informational needs of end users and create reporting/visualization solutions that convert data into actionable information. Present insights to senior leaders and advisors. Prototype, develop, iterate, test, and deploy automated reporting solutions into production. Incorporate statistical and digital methods to solve business problems. Coach and mentor other business intelligence analysts in the creation, validation, and application of digital solutions and insights projects. Participate on cross‑functional project teams. Qualifications – Basic Requirements Bachelor’s degree. Accuracy and attention to detail; high levels of precision. Effective communication skills and ability to transmit, receive, and interpret ideas accurately. Knowledge of business data analysis; ability to collect, identify, analyze, and interpret business data. Business assessment skills; ability to assess benefits, risks, and success factors of potential applications. Requirements analysis skills; ability to elicit, analyze, and record required business functionality. Technical writing/documentation skills; ability to produce technical documents such as reports or guidelines. Research analysis skills; ability to locate, interpret, and evaluate research findings. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of data analysis or data visualization experience. Working knowledge of PowerBI, Snowflake, and SQL. Experience designing and prototyping dynamic views and visualizations for large and complex data sets in Tableau and/or PowerBI. Strong communication skills. Self‑starter who works well in a team environment. Ability to create innovative solutions to solve business problems. Strong attention to detail to spot inaccuracies in coding or data. Experience with SQL data structures. Knowledge of Microsoft Management Studio, R, SQL, DevOps, Excel, Alteryx, Snowflake. Location and Travel Peoria, IL (United States). Less than 10% travel (Domestic & International). Position requires working onsite five days a week. Compensation and Benefits Salary: $97,530.00 – $146,290.00 (annual).
