About the Position

An exciting locum tenens opportunity is available for an experienced OB/GYN Advanced Practice Provider in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This hospital-based practice is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive inpatient OB and GYN coverage, including labor and delivery support, postpartum care, surgical first assist responsibilities, and emergency gynecologic consultations. This temporary coverage assignment offers a collaborative environment with 24/7 physician and advanced practice support.

This Locum Tenens Physician Extender opportunity is ideal for providers seeking schedule flexibility, diverse clinical experiences, and professional growth in a high-acuity inpatient setting. Job Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient OB and GYN coverage.
• Manage labor and delivery, maternity floor, and postpartum patients.
• Perform first assist duties for C-sections and emergent gynecologic surgeries.
• Evaluate and manage inpatient and emergency department gynecologic consults.
• Assist with post-operative gynecologic rounding and patient management.
• Interpret fetal heart rate monitoring and support obstetrical triage services.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts license required at submission.
• Physician Assistant candidates must hold current PA-C certification.
• Physician Assistants must have C-section first assist and emergent GYN surgery first assist experience.
• Physician Assistants must demonstrate fetal heart rate interpretation competency.
• Nurse Practitioners must be certified to first assist in the operating room.
• OB/GYN inpatient experience required.

Working Hours

• Assignment Length: 3 Months
• Start Date: As soon as credentialed
• Coverage Dates: July 27, 2026 – October 27, 2026
• Schedule: Full-Time
• Shifts: 3 shifts per week
• Shift Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Coverage: Nights and weekends
• Call Requirement: 3 shifts per week
• Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 30–60 days with expedited options available
