Job Description Supervisor: Party Chief Responsible for assisting the Survey Party Chief in managing the activities of survey throughout various job locations. Fundamental knowledge of survey instruments or activities required. Essential functions and responsibilities Complete tasks utilizing survey instruments and equipment per the direction of the Survey Party Chief Maintain and properly care for survey instruments and equipment Dig, spread, and level dirt, sand, and gravel using hand tools Lift, carry, and manually transport construction materials, tools, and supplies Clean tools, equipment, materials, and the work area Mix and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools Join, wrap, and seal sections of pipe Perform a variety of routine non‑machine tasks such as removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trench, and assembling sections of pipe Perform a variety of machine tasks such as tapping soil, jack hammering, and assisting in the fusing of pipe Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill Other unlisted duties will be assigned When not performing the above essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor Requirements At least one years' experience as a Survey Helper in heavy highway and bridge projects Previous experience with survey instruments Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications Move throughout a construction jobsite which includes minor obstacles including climbing ladders and inclines, operating heavy equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. Safety Policies and Practices The employee in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company’s safety manual. Education High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required. Experience Three or more years related construction experience preferred. Physical Activity Level Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature. Manual Dexterity Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. Ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials. Working Conditions Outdoor exposure to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.).
