Job Title: RN II-OB (Mandatory Call) Profession: RN II-OB Specialty: RN II-OB Duration: 8 Shift: Day Shift Auto Offer Hours per Shift: Not specified Experience: Two years OB Nursing experience required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor required Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from approved vendor required Must-Have: Current Epic experience required Description: The OB/GYN Nurse is responsible for the planning and provision of nursing care to patients and their families during the antepartum, postpartum, and postoperative periods, including emergency situations. Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel commensurate with their scope of practice. Competently completes a gestational and comprehensive newborn assessment. Consistently recognizes and reports any variances from normal. Competently performs standard postpartum physical assessments including status of fundus, lochia, perineum, and breasts. Competently performs standard postoperative Women's/GYN assessments. Consistently recognizes and reports any variance from the normal postoperative course. Performs physical and psychological assessments of all patients, demonstrating knowledge and consideration of age-specific and cultural differences. Demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment in managing perinatal, postpartum, and other women's postoperative emergencies. Provides caring support to grieving families. Educates patients and families in all stages of postpartum or postoperative periods, utilizing methods appropriate to age, condition, culture, and learning readiness. Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with members of the healthcare team and provides care based on that plan. Completes legible, accurate, and timely documentation of all nursing care provided, including evaluation of patients' responses to medications, treatments, and procedures. Consistently performs necessary unit-specific safety and quality control checks. Identifies and communicates opportunities to improve care, services, and unit operations. Is open to change and reaching new goals for the unit. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. All associates are required to receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply.
