UNC Charlotte - Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor The Department of History at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a visiting assistant teaching professor beginning August 10, 2026. This is a one year, non-renewable position. The salary range for this position is $60,000-$65,000. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in History or related field at the time of appointment, college-level teaching experience, and a commitment to serving UNC Charlotte students of all backgrounds. As the largest and most academically diverse college at UNC Charlotte, the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences houses 15 departments, 13 interdisciplinary programs, and 7 applied centers. We are also interested in candidates with additional expertise and the ability to teach courses in the following fields: Atlantic World/US history before 1865, public history, capitalism studies, or women and gender studies. Within a 4-4 teaching load, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Latin American History that service our curricula in History and Latin American Studies. Finalists will be asked to discuss how their teaching practices engage, include, and eliminate barriers to learning for UNC Charlotte students, and how their educational approach helps increase the engagement and success of all students regardless of their entry pathway into the university.
