Contracts Manager (Government & Production Programs)

Location: Lorton, VA (Hybrid)

Salary: Approximately $160,000 annually

We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead a small team supporting U.S. Government hardware development and production programs . This direct hire role is ideal for a hands-on leader with deep expertise in FAR/DFARS compliance, contract negotiations, and cradle-to-grave contract management .

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and oversee a team of 3-5 contract professionals
Manage complex government contracts across development, low-rate, and full-rate production
Serve as escalation point for contractual, delivery, and customer issues
Partner cross-functionally with Program Management, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain
Lead RFP analysis, proposal support, negotiations, and contract awards
Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and regulatory requirements
Oversee contract performance, funding, modifications, and closeout activities

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field
10+ years of government contracts experience (FAR/DFARS)
Proven experience with T&M, FFP, and cost-reimbursable contracts
Background in production-based programs (delivery, inspection, acceptance)
Prior people management or team leadership experience
Strong negotiation, risk management, and communication skills
Ability to obtain a security clearance

Preferred

NCMA certification or advanced degree
Experience transitioning programs from development to production

Work Environment

Hybrid schedule (2-3 days onsite; may vary based on business needs)
