Demonstrates effective organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication skills.ResponsibilitiesPrepare tissue specimens through processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and mounting for microscopic examinationCollect and process biological samples following strict laboratory protocols and aseptic techniquesMaintain accurate documentation of all laboratory procedures, specimen tracking, and patient informationEnsure proper handling of specimens using correct anatomy knowledge, pathology terminology, and laboratory techniquesPerform routine quality control checks on equipment and reagents to guarantee reliable resultsFollow safety guidelines diligently, including aseptic techniques and infection control practices to prevent contaminationRequirementsPrior clinical laboratory experience with tissue processing or histology techniquesExperience working in research laboratories or hospital settings preferredKnowledge of physiology, anatomy, pathology, and medical terminology essential for precise specimen handlingProficiency in laboratory procedures such as fixation, embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide preparationHands-on experience with specimen collection methods and processing of biological samplesFamiliarity with gastrointestinal histology and grossing techniques a plusStrong understanding of laboratory safety standards, aseptic technique, and laboratory equipment maintenanceExcellent attention to detail coupled with the ability to follow complex protocols accuratelyEducationAssociate in Histotechnology or Bachelors in Biology/chemistry (Required)ExperienceRequired: One year of histology technical experience in a laboratory setting.Preferred: Experience in Gastroenterology.License/CertificationHT or HTL (Preferred)Equipment OperatedStandard laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.Work EnvironmentLaboratory unit, well lighted and temperature controlled. Exposure to chemicals, communicable diseases, biohazards, and other conditions related to medical setting.Mental/Physical RequirementsVaried activities including sitting, standing, lifting, turning, stooping and reaching.
