Now Hiring: Experienced Finish GPS Grading Operator

We are seeking a skilled Finish GPS Grading Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating grading equipment using GPS machine control systems to achieve precise final grades on commercial, residential, and site development projects.

Responsibilities:

• Operate dozers, motor graders, or excavators with GPS guidance systems
• Properly follows company and OSHA safety procedures. Brings safety issues to the attention of the foreman, superintendent, safety, or HR representative.
• Perform all pre-shift inspections on the equipment prior to the operation. Check and maintain fluids in the equipment as directed, grease equipment, and shovel tracks as directed.
• Knowledge & sign off on PTSA (Pre-Task Safety Analysis) on a daily basis.
• Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on equipment and reports defects or needed repairs to the foreman and/or superintendent.
• Ensures compliance with company control standards and procedures.
• Proactively communicates with foreman, superintendent, and coworkers.
• Promotes teamwork that increases productivity and efficiency. 
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Work Environment

• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
• Extreme weather conditions at the job sites.
• Loud noise levels on the job sites.
• Active jobsite with moving vehicles and heavy machinery.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, sitting and climbing for extended periods of time.
• Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery and whole-body vibrations.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to climb a ladder.
• Ability to use your hands to work with heavy equipment controls for an extended period.
• Ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Ability to work and walk on uneven terrain.
• Able to lift 50 pounds, sometimes more.
• Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing.

Position Type and Hours

• Full-Time
• 10-to-12-hour day shifts
• Monday through Friday, with optional Saturdays
• Overtime

 

Travel

Travel may occasionally be required.

 

Required Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED.
• Three years’ experience in operating heavy equipment in the earthwork industry.
• Ability to work from construction specifications and blueprints.
• Basic computer skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Degree or certificate in Heavy Equipment Operation or related field
• Five years’ experience in operating heavy equipment related to in the earthwork industry
• Certifications such as OSHA 10, OSHA 30 are a plus
• Experience with GPS-equipped machines is a plus
