Electrical & Instrumentation TechnicianWe are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and calibration of electrical and instrumentation systems within a large industrial manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of process control equipment, instrumentation, automated valves, motor controls, and electrical distribution systems.This position is part of a union workforce with a seniority-based shift bidding process every six months. Candidates must be open to working all shifts.Top 3 Required SkillsTroubleshooting and repairing industrial electrical systems, motor controls, MCCs, starters, and VFDs.Working with electrical systems up to 480V, with medium-voltage experience preferred.Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.Troubleshooting, calibrating, and maintaining pressure, flow, level, and temperature instrumentation.Experience with transmitters, sensors, control loops, and process measurement devices.Knowledge of 4-20mA signals, HART communication, and calibration equipment.Troubleshooting and repairing control valves, actuators, positioners, solenoid valves, and pneumatic systems.Experience with valve automation and process control systems.Maintaining automated equipment used in manufacturing or process operations.Candidates without industrial electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting experience will not be considered.ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and repair electrical, instrumentation, and process control equipment.Install, calibrate, maintain, and replace pressure transmitters, flow transmitters, level switches, temperature devices, and related instrumentation.Diagnose equipment failures using multimeters, process meters, pressure calibrators, temperature calibrators, and HART communicators.Troubleshoot and repair VFDs, motor controls, actuators, sensors, and control valves.Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems operating at 480V and 4160V.Service pneumatic systems including air actuators, solenoid valves, and pneumatic switches.Work with process control equipment, boiler controls, relay logic systems, and instrumentation networks.Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop drawings, and technical documentation.Complete work orders and maintenance documentation while following established safety procedures.Support continuous improvement efforts related to equipment reliability and plant operations.Required Qualifications3+ years of experience as an E&I Technician, Instrument Technician, Industrial Electrician, or related industrial maintenance role.Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems and instrumentation.Experience with VFDs, motor controls, pressure transmitters, flow transmitters, level instrumentation, and process controls.Knowledge of valve automation, pneumatic systems, and instrumentation calibration.Ability to use electrical and instrumentation testing equipment.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and P&IDs.Experience working in manufacturing, refinery, chemical, food processing, power generation, utilities, oil & gas, or similar industrial environments.Preferred QualificationsExperience with 4160V electrical systems.Experience with Rosemount instrumentation and Fisher control valves.Knowledge of relay logic and industrial automation systems.Experience with boiler controls and compressed air systems.Familiarity with HART communication protocols and advanced process control systems.Schedule & Shift RequirementsUnion manufacturing environment.Shift assignments are determined through a seniority-based bid process every six months.Candidates must be willing and able to work all shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.Initial training may be conducted on day shift before moving into the regular shift rotation.Flexibility is required, as future shift assignments may change based on the bidding process.Work EnvironmentIndustrial manufacturing facility with indoor and outdoor work areas.Exposure to noise, heat, rotating equipment, process operations, and confined spaces.Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting required.Work is performed in an active production environment where safety is a top priority.Benefits & PerksCompetitive union wagesConsistent year-round work and long-term job stabilityExcellent medical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) retirement savings planPension programPaid vacation and holidaysAnnual wage increasesStrong union representationOpportunities for career growth and advancementIf you have experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems, process instrumentation, and automated control valves, and are open to working a flexible shift schedule in a union environment, we encourage you to apply.Job Type & Location: This is a Permanent position based out of SAN DIEGO, CA.Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $90729.60 - $90729.60/yr.
