Sanitation Technician

Position Summary Joseph's Bakery is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Sanitation Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout our production facility by cleaning and sanitizing equipment, production areas, and food contact surfaces while following all food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment that plays a critical part in ensuring the safety and quality of our products. Why Join Joseph's? Family-owned company with a collaborative and supportive culture Stable and growing organization with long-term opportunity Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package, including: Health insurance 401(k) Paid holidays Vacation time Opportunities for training, cross-functional learning, and career growth Key Responsibilities Clean and sanitize production equipment, machinery, conveyors, and food contact surfaces using approved cleaning chemicals and procedures Clean floors, walls, ceilings, drains, production areas, break rooms, and restrooms Disassemble and reassemble equipment as needed for deep cleaning Safely handle and apply sanitation chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and company procedures Follow all sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), GMPs, HACCP requirements, and Food Safety programs Monitor sanitation effectiveness through inspections, swab testing, or other verification methods Properly collect, sort, and dispose of waste materials Inspect cleaning equipment and report maintenance concerns when identified Complete required sanitation records and documentation accurately Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Management teams to support operational goals Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications Previous sanitation, janitorial, manufacturing, food production, or industrial cleaning experience preferred, but not required Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, Food Safety, and sanitation practices preferred Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and follow safety procedures Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment for cleaning Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and quality standards Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Reliable attendance and punctuality required Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required Skills & Competencies Strong work ethic and positive attitude Attention to detail and commitment to food safety Ability to follow procedures and work instructions accurately Strong teamwork and communication skills Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Adaptability and flexibility to changing production and sanitation needs Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift Frequent use of hands and arms to operate cleaning tools and equipment Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
