Virtualization Administrator VMware – DTRA, I3TS contract Leidos is seeking an experienced and motivated Virtualization Administrator VMware to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) on the Integrated Information Technology Support Services (I3TS) contract. This role will enhance IT efficiency, security, and mission effectiveness by designing, implementing, and maintaining a resilient and secure network infrastructure. Work location includes Fort Belvoir, VA (Primary) and Reston, VA (Temporary Secondary). Responsibilities Deploy and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines across multiple physical sites. Configure and manage core Omnissa VDI components including connection brokers, gateways, profile management, and load balancing. Provide performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization of VDI environments. Perform regular maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure the security and reliability of the virtual infrastructure. Work with infrastructure teams to integrate VDI solutions with network, storage, and security frameworks. Monitor and optimize virtual infrastructure performance, resource utilization, and system availability. Implement and manage VMware networking components such as distributed switches and VLANs. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VMware virtualization technologies, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and virtual machine management. Work with other IT teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions that integrate with virtualization technologies and align with command requirements. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior administrators and team members. Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual machines and infrastructure components. Develop and maintain documentation related to virtualization architecture, processes, and procedures. Evaluate and recommend new VMware technologies and solutions to enhance system performance and efficiency. Support projects to enhance the security, efficiency, or capability of the virtualized environment. Work with vendors and third-party providers for troubleshooting and issue resolution. Ensure compliance with security policies, regulations, and best practices related to virtualization technologies. Required Qualifications BS degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience (additional technical experience may replace degree). Current DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance. Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification (Security+ CE or equivalent). Demonstrated proficiency in managing and troubleshooting VMware vSphere infrastructure. Experience with VMware technologies including ESXi, vCenter Server, vSAN, and vSphere Networking. Experience with Omnissa Horizon 7/8, App Volumes, Dynamic Environment Manager, and UAGs. Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, and FSlogix. Experience Dell Wyse client management. Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to review, modify, and prepare comprehensive documentation for virtualization tasks. Desired Qualifications VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP). ITIL 5 Foundation Certification. Prior work with VMware Horizon for VDI. Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible or PowerCLI. Prior work within the Department of War and familiarity with its IT environments. Compensation Pay range: $92,300.00 – $166,850.00.
