Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.

Responsibilities include managing the clinical investigational drug (CID) inventory, providing technical assistance with clinical trial protocol, managing and triaging pharmacy phone calls, maintaining and recording information related to clinical trials, prepacking medication, preparing sterile intravenous chemotherapy or biohazardous products, participating in monthly audits of CID inventory, conducting cleaning of pharmacy sterile compounding suites, maintaining the clinical investigational drug work area, organizing study binders for each trial, assisting pharmacist in training of pharmacy staff, performing quality improvement and quality assurance implementation, maintaining proper functioning of equipment, working in compliance of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, overseeing and instructing pharmacy learners, and adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures.

Core qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, Pharmacy Technician State of FL License, and minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
