Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives supporting early learners in an emotional impairments classroom as a Special Education Teacher and Autism Specialist. This contract role focuses on working with K-2 students, creating a nurturing and structured environment that fosters growth and learning. Your expertise will help deliver individualized instruction and support to children with unique needs, ensuring every child has the tools to succeed academically and socially.
You’ll collaborate closely with classroom aides, related service providers, and administration to implement and adapt individualized education plans, monitor student progress, and communicate regularly with families. Creativity, patience, and a commitment to inclusive education are highly valued in this position.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current Special Education certification is required
- Background working with students with emotional impairments, preferably in a K-2 setting
- Strong knowledge of autism-specific teaching strategies and interventions
- Experience managing behaviors proactively and using positive reinforcement
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and families
- Passion for helping children achieve their fullest potential
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach K-2 students in an emotional impairments classroom, ensuring lessons are adapted to individual needs
- Develop, implement, and track progress on IEP goals in collaboration with other staff
- Create an inclusive, safe, and supportive classroom culture
- Use specialized strategies tailored to students with autism and emotional impairments
- Foster social and emotional development alongside academics
- Partner with parents and guardians to maintain strong home-school communication
- Maintain accurate records and compliance with special education law and school policy
