Specialty: Labor and Delivery Discipline: RN Start Date: 06/22/2026 Duration: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36 hours (12‑hour days) Shift: 12‑hour days Employment Type: Travel Job Description The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting, including assessment of maternal and fetal health, administration of treatments, and collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. Responsibilities Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns. Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques. Prepare equipment and aid physicians during labor, delivery, and examinations of patients. Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn. Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care. Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care. Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence‑based protocols. Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes. Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results. Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures. Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing. Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN. Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations. Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC). NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification. Preferred Qualifications AWHONN fetal monitoring certification. STABLE and ACLS certifications (AHA/ARC). Additional certifications and licenses may be required for this position. Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in English reading, writing, and communication. Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills. Physical abilities: remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend. Interpersonal skills: work effectively with professional and ancillary personnel, maintain a positive attitude and professionalism. Technical/motor skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move equipment during procedures. Mental requirements: cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision or independently, manage irregular activity schedules, maintain continuous concentration to detail.
