Food Service Worker
The food service worker supports daily food production operations in a school kitchen that serves students. The position is responsible for preparing ingredients, assembling food items, serving students meals, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, energetic, and able to work efficiently as part of a team to meet daily production goals. This full-time position starts in August. Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm. Rarely nights or weekends. NO HOLIDAYS.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare fruits, vegetables, and other menu items according to standardized recipes and meal schedules
- Wash, cut, portion, cook, and package food products for distribution
- Assist with meal assembly and service to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met
- Label, date, and store food products following food safety guidelines
- Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, steam tables, and knives
- Maintain clean and organized workstations throughout the shift. Follow HAACP procedures and document food temperatures as required
- Assist with receiving deliveries and stocking inventory using FIFO procedures
- Support cooks with food preparation and other duties as assigned
- Work efficiently to meet production deadlines
- Adhere to all company, local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation guidelines
Qualifications:
- Previous food service, restaurant, cafeteria experience preferred but not required
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Reliable attendance and punctuality required
- Serve Safe Certified or the ability to obtain certification upon hire
- Must pass federal background check
- Ability to read, speak, and comprehend English
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements
- Ability to work in loud, fast paced kitchen environment
